As many of you know I have been building sculpures and shooting little films at the Salton Sea since 2000. This is the latest one on the old pier in Bombay Beach. I titled it " Re In Car Nation"
The car is a deconsructed 1948 Packard from the old Rozman Ranch that originated from Crested Butte, CO. It symbolizes a Eisenhower era car that flys off into the future to become a totemic like sentinal. It finally rests at a place of strange death and beauty.
It sits quiet and watches the sun and moon set to the west and remembers a time when these giant metallic beasts graced the asphalt praries of a west that once was...Be kind to each other. Watch the moon, the stars, the birds, the setting sun.
